The Decatur City Council is preparing to consider an ordinance that would require the wearing of face masks in certain circumstances.
The council will study the issue at their regular meeting Monday. The move comes after the governor has made face masks mandatory when social distancing is not possible. The proposed ordinance would require masks when shopping or working retail, picking up food from drive-thru or curbside, visiting the doctor, using public transportation, interacting with the public at a place of business, or when feeling ill.
