We will be sharing updates about the status of the COVID-19 virus everyday around noon as
information is made available to us by the Macon County Crisis Communication Team.
Currently there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Macon County. So far, three tests have been completed for Macon County residents, with two negative test results and one pending test result.
We want to remind people that if you are experiencing possible symptoms of covid 19, that you should not go to the Emergency Room.
These are mild symptoms that come with the virus.
Because testing is not widely available to the general public, it is imperative that community members, whether feeling ill or well, implement social distancing best practices to limit the spread and contraction of COVID-19.
It is also important that everyone should be taking preventive measures. Just because you don’t have symptoms doesn’t mean you won’t develop them. If you experience symptoms, first call your primary care physician. If you do not have a primary care physician in place at this time, you may call DMH Medical Group at (217) 876-2856, Crossing Healthcare at (217) 877-9117 or SIU at (217) 872-3800. Patients and visitors to healthcare facilities should be prepared to be screened before entering.
If you have been exposed to COVID-19 through travel to a high-risk area or personal contact with a person who has the virus, you should be under quarantine, even if you don’t have any symptoms.
It’s recommended to stay home and avoid going out if it can be helped. Avoid gatherings of 10 people or more if you can.
We will continue to update you as more information continues to be made available.
