Michael Wallace is now headed to prison for the 2011 murder of Caleb Witty in Decatur. Wallace pleaded guilty yesterday to first-degree murder as part of a plea agreement. Witty was shot and killed in August of 2011 on Decatur’s east side while protecting his younger sister during a robbery. The case has remained a painful chapter for Witty’s family and the community for more than a decade. Under the terms of the deal, Wallace’s prison sentence will be capped at 40 years. A judge will make the final sentencing decision at a later hearing.
