(Seattle, WA) — Blair Walsh’s 52-yard field goal in the closing seconds fell short to give the Falcons a 34-31 win over the Seahawks on “Monday Night Football” in Seattle. Matt Ryan picked apart a shorthanded Seattle secondary for two touchdown passes. The Falcons and Seahawks are both 6-and-4 and battling to make the playoffs in a tightly-packed NFC race.

(Undated) — The NFL compensation committee is denying Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ request for a vote on commissioner Roger Goodell’s contract extension. Jones has been upset over Ezekiel Elliott’s six-game suspension and many believe that led to him objecting to Goodell’s extension. He’s threatened to sue the NFL if the committee approves the extension. The committee has reportedly told Jones to back down.

(Irving, TX) — Former NFL wide receiver Terry Glenn is dead following a car crash in North Texas. Irving police say the 43-year-old died yesterday morning after the collision late Sunday night. According to police, the car veered out of its lane and crashed into a concrete barrier, ejecting Glenn, who was the driver. Glenn played 11 seasons in the NFL with stops in New England, Green Bay and Dallas.

(Lake Forest, IL) — Bears tight end Zach Miller is finally out of the hospital. Miller announced on Twitter yesterday that he was back home. Miller had multiple surgeries done to his left knee after a gruesome injury on October 29th. In other injury news, linebacker Leonard Floyd is out indefinitely due to a right knee injury. It happened during Sunday’s loss to the Lions. Chicago is 3-and-7 and is at the Eagles on Sunday.

(Lake Forest, IL) — Connor Barth missing a 46-yard game-tying field goal attempt against the Lions was the final straw for the Bears. Chicago released Barth yesterday and signed former Chiefs kicker Cairo Santos. Barth was 11-for-16 this season.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Colts are back from their bye week and will host the Titans on Sunday. Indy sits at 3-and-7 on the year and lost to the Steelers its last time out. With Andrew Luck officially out for the season, Jacoby Brissett will continue as the starting quarterback. He’s expected to start this week despite being on the NFL’s concussion protocol.

(Norman, OK) — The on-field actions of Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield will cost him playing time. Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley announced that Mayfield will not start this weekend against West Virginia, but will still play. Mayfield appeared to grab his crotch and yell profanities towards the Kansas sideline during Saturday’s win over the Jayhawks.

(Dallas, TX) — Celtics star Kyrie Irving wouldn’t let their winning streak end. Irving scored 10 of his 47 points in overtime to lift Boston to a 110-102 win against the Mavericks in Dallas for a 16th straight victory. The Celts started the season 0-and-2. They play the Heat tomorrow night in Miami.

(Champaign, IL) — Illinois hoops gets back to work tomorrow facing Augustana at home. The Fighting Illini are off to a 4-and-0 start after a 17-point win over Marshall on Sunday. They host North Carolina Central on Friday.
>>Carpenter Among Cardinals On National Baseball HoF Ballot
(Cooperstown, NY) — Former ace Chris Carpenter is among the former Cardinals on the 2018 ballot for the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Third baseman Scott Rolen, pitcher Jason Isringhausen [[ IZZ-ring-how-zen ]] and outfielder Larry Walker are also on the ballot. Seventy-five percent of the vote is needed for election. The Class of 2018 will be revealed on January 24th.
