A former Whitmore and Oakley Township assessor has avoided jail time after pleading guilty to stealing a combined $70,000 from the two townships.
As part of the plea, 41-year old Tricia Napier received probation for her guilty plea to one count of theft. She will be on probation for the next two years and must pay the full $70,000 in restitution.
Napier was arrested in 2016 after an investigation found overdraft notices on township bank accounts. Between January of 2015 and January of 2016, she allegedly forged signatures on 88 checks.
