(Springfield, IL) — Illinois’ largest public employee union says its members are sending a message. AFSCME leaders yesterday said 80-percent of union members who voted cast a ballot to authorize a strike. The vote doesn’t mean they will walk off the job; union leaders say the vote shows there is strong support for the idea of a strike. AFSCME is furious with Governor Bruce Rauner and their stalled, year-long contract negotiation.
