Springfield Officials Attempting To Close Budget Gap

(Springfield, IL)  —  Springfield city officials are discussing ways to close a nearly four-million-dollar budget gap.  The “State Journal Register” reports Aldermen rejected three tax hikes proposed by Mayor Jim Langfelder to balance the budget for the fiscal year that starts March 1st.  Last week, officials offered ideas on how to reduce expenses including delaying hiring and repairs to buildings and across-the-board cuts.
