>>Cardinals Hit Five Homers To Rout Reds


(St. Louis, MO)  —  The Cardinals launched five home runs in a 12-5 win over the Reds at Busch Stadium.  Aledmys Diaz hit a grand slam and Matt Carpenter, Jhonny Peralta, Matt Adams and Randal Grichuk also went deep for St. Louis.  Adam Wainwright picked up his 13th win.


>>Cubs Hold Off Pirates In Ninth


(Pittsburgh, PA)  —  The Cubs gave up three runs in the bottom of the ninth, but held on to beat the Pirates 6-4 in Pittsburgh.  Felix Pena struck out Sean Rodriguez with the bases loaded to end it.  Chris Coghlan had a three-run triple for Chicago.  John Lackey went five innings for his 11th win.


>>White Sox Rout Rays


(Chicago, IL)  —  Leury Garcia hit a three-run homer as the White Sox ripped the Rays, 13-6.  Melky Cabrera and Tim Anderson also went deep for Chicago, which has won four in-a-row.  Chris Sale struck out seven over seven strong innings to move to 17-and-9.


>>Illini At 15th-Ranked Nebraska Saturday


(Champaign, IL)  —  Illinois is preparing for its first road game of the season.  The Fighting Illini play at 15th-ranked Nebraska on Saturday.  It’s the Big Ten opener for Illinois, which has lost back-to-back games to North Carolina and Western Michigan to fall to 1-and-2.  The Huskers are a perfect 4-and-0.


>>Report: Watt To Miss Significant Time


(Houston, TX)  —  The season could be over for one of the NFL’s biggest stars.  Texans defensive end J.J. Watt re-injured his back during last week’s loss to the Patriots.  ESPN reports Watt will be placed on injured reserve and is “probably” done for the season.


>>Colts Place Cole On IR


(Indianapolis, IN)  —  Indianapolis Colts linebacker Trent Cole is out for the season after being placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury.  Cole has been dealing with a back injury that caused him to miss Week Two.  The 33-year-old is in the final season of a two-year contract.  He has 88-and-a-half sacks over his career.


>>Bears Place DB Fuller On IR


(Chicago, IL)  —  The Chicago Bears are placing cornerback Kyle Fuller on injured reserve.  NFL Media reports the move, which will keep Fuller out for at least the next eight games.  The former first-round pick has not played in the first three weeks of the season after having his knee scoped in August.


>>”Monday Night Football” Posts All-Time Low Viewership


(Undated)  —  “Monday Night Football” was no match for the Presidential Debate.  The game between the Falcons and Saints drew the lowest viewership in the program’s history.  The debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton set a record with an estimated 84-million viewers.


>>NL Wild Card Standings Unchanged


(Undated)  —  There’s no change in the NL wild card standings after the Mets, Giants and Cardinals each posted easy wins last night.  The Mets are a half-game up on the Giants for the top spot while San Francisco is a game ahead of the Cardinals for the second wild card.


>>Rousey Wants To Fight Justino


(Undated)  —  UFC star Ronda Rousey wants to get in the octagon with Cris “Cyborg” Justino.  While appearing on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, company president Dana White said Rousey “wants that fight”.  Rousey hasn’t fought since losing to Holly Holm last November.
