>>Gordon’s Stepmother, Father Dead In Murder-Suicide

 

(Orange, CA)  —  The father and stepmother of former NASCAR star Robby Gordon are dead after an apparent murder-suicide.  Police say 68-year-old Robert “Baja Bob” Gordon strangled 57-year-old Sharon Gordon before shooting himself.  The bodies were discovered in Southern California on Wednesday.

 

>>Jets Light Up Bills

 

(Orchard Park, NY)  —  Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 374 yards and a touchdown as the Jets beat the Bills, 37-31, on “Thursday Night Football”.  Matt Forte rushed for 100 yards and three scores to help New York improve to 1-and-1.  Buffalo is 0-and-2.

 

>>Vegas Raiders Another Step Closer

 

(Las Vegas, NV)  —  The Las Vegas Raiders are another step closer to coming to fruition.  The Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee is unanimously recommending 750-million-dollars in public funds to build a new stadium for the Raiders near the Vegas Strip.

 

>>Colts Clash With Broncos

 

(Denver, CO)  —  The Colts hope to bounce back in Week Two as they visit the Denver Broncos on Sunday.  Indianapolis fell to the Lions, 39-35, in a Week One shootout.  Denver is 1-and-0 after beating the Panthers to open the year.  Kick-off is at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday.

 

>>Cubs Clinch Division Title

 

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Cubs are division champions for the first time since 2008.  Despite suffering a 5-4 loss to the Brewers, the Cubs clinched the NL Central crown when the Cardinals lost to the Giants later Thursday night.  The Cubs are looking for their first World Series title since 1908.

(San Francisco, CA)  —  Johnny Cueto tossed a complete game as the Giants rolled the Cardinals, 6-2, in San Francisco.  Adam Wainwright took the loss for St. Louis.  Jedd Gyorko and Randal Grichuk singled in runs in the loss.

 

>>White Sox Edge Indians In Ninth

 

(Chicago, IL)  —  Carlos Sanchez singled in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the White Sox edged the Indians, 2-1.  Jose Abreu hit his 24th home run of the season for the Sox, who took three-of-four in the series.  David Robertson got the win in relief.

 

>>Red Sox Shock Yankees With Five-Run Ninth

 

(Boston, MA)  —  Hanley Ramirez’s three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth gave the Red Sox a stunning 7-5 win over the Yankees.  Ramirez’s shot capped a five-run ninth for first-place Boston.  David Ortiz passed Mickey Mantle for 17th on the all-time home run list with the 537th blast of his career.

(Undated)  —  A busy Saturday is ahead in college football.  Number-18 Notre Dame has a showdown with eighth-ranked Michigan State.  Illinois clashes with Western Michigan in Champaign, while Northwestern is also home to do battle with Duke.

 

>>Chase Playoffs Begin Sunday

 

(Joliet, IL)  —  The Chase for the Sprint Cup playoffs begin with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 at Chicagoland Speedway.  The 267-lap, 400-and-a-half-mile race takes place Sunday afternoon.  It’s the first of three Round of 16 races in the Chase.
