Vendors that were owed money from the 2015 Illinois State Fair should finally receive their money as a result of a short-term budget approved by state lawmakers, but how soon should the vendors receive their money still remains uncertain. A six-month spending plan that was approved last Thursday, which was the final day of the fiscal year, authorizes nearly $1.6 million for overdue vendor payments from last year, as well as $6.4 million for operating this year’s fair. The $6.4 million in operating expenses for this year’s fair, which is scheduled from August 11-21 should help avoid delayed vendor payments for a second straight year, according to the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
