The Washington Nationals have found their next manager. Multiple sources report the Nats will hire former Padres skipper Bud Black. The official announcement will likely come after the World Series. The 58-year-old Black will replace Matt Williams.
The Chicago Bulls are 2-and-0 on the year after notching a 115-110 win over the Nets last night in Brooklyn. Jimmy Butler poured in 24 points, while Derrick Rose added 15 points in 29 minutes. Chicago will visit the Pistons tomorrow night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves captured a 112-111 win over the Lakers just days after the death of head coach Flip Saunders. Kobe Bryant set an NBA record for the most seasons played with one team with 20. Bryant scored 24 points on 24 shots in 29 minutes.
University of Minnesota head football coach Jerry Kill is retiring due to health concerns. The 54-year-old Kill has epilepsy and says the threat of seizures has become too much for him to continue. Kill also battled kidney cancer in 2005.
Week Eight of the NFL season kicks off with the Patriots hosting the Dolphins on “Thursday Night Football”. The Pats enter the AFC East showdown and unblemished 6-and-0. The Dolphins are 2-and-0 under interim head coach Dan Campbell.
