Shelby County Health Fair
The Shelby County Senior Center, Shelby County University of Illinois Extension, Shelbyville Lion’s Club, and SAIL, Soyland Access to Independent Living, are hosting the Shelby County Health Fair. The health fair will take place on Thursday, May 4th from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the Shelby Christian Church located at 200 North Hickory Street in Shelbyville. This event is free & open to the public.
There are over 40 organizations participating in the health fair this year. Some of these organizations include the Alzheimer’s Association, Community Care Systems, Inc., Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, Prairie Heart Institute of Illinois and SCCS, Shelby County Community Services, Inc.
Special Events include the Lion’s Hearing and Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Van. The Lion’s van can also test children, ages 6 months to 6 years, for vision loss.
Other screenings & tests that will be available at the health fair are Blood Pressure, Body Mass Index (BMI), Gambling Screening, Grip Strength testing, “Heart Rhythm Testing”, Pulse Oximetry, Posture Screening and Sleep Apnea Screening . Also, information will be available for the Alzheimer’s & Dementias, Brain Health, Consumer Fraud & Identity Theft, Hospice Education, Managing Diabetes & Nutrition Education, Medicare, Public Transportation, Veteran Benefits for Federal & State Levels, and many more.
Mark your calendars for May 4th and plan to attend. There will be over 40 door prizes at the Shelby County Health Fair, plus a lot of information from the agencies.
