Ground Squirrels Vintage Base Ball Game
Spelled as two words in the 1800s, vintage “base ball” boasts a unique set of rules that are slightly different from the game you know today. The Rock Springs Ground Squirrels and neighboring teams compete with authentic 1858 rules, which include: no gloves, no foul balls, and no ungentlemanly behavior. Cheer for your home team, the Rock Springs Ground Squirrels, against the Alton Giants. Bring your lawn chair, or a blanket and picnic lunch. Located at BeautifulTrobaughField off the Rodney T. Miller Wetland parking lot in Rock Springs Conservation Area. All games are free, although the umpire reserves the right to fine players or spectators a full day’s wages (25 cents) for any unseemly conduct.
