(Decatur, IL) — On Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 p.m., Decatur Police responded to an accident that took place at the intersection of North Portage Place and East Mound Road.
Once officers arrived, they discovered two cars had collided at the intersection severely injuring all three passengers involved. A 67-year-old Decatur man was the driver of one of the cars carrying a 28-year-old male who is also a Decatur resident and the driver of the second car was a 16-year-old female from Macon.
The 67-year-old man was found unresponsive with life-threatening injuries and the 28-year-old male was found responsive but had life-threatening injuries and had to be extricated from the car by the Decatur Fire Department. The 16-year-old was found responsive but had serious injuries. All three individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
At this time there is no more information on their conditions and the crash is currently being investigated by the Fatal Accident Investigation Team. The Cromwell News team will update this story when more information becomes available.

The 67-year-old man that suffered life-threatening injuries from Wednesday afternoon’s crash passed away due to those injuries. There is no further information or updates regarding the status of the 28-year-old Decatur resident and the 16-year-old female from Macon.
