(Los Angeles, CA) — Jared Goff threw for a career-high 306 yards and a touchdown as the Rams crushed the Colts, 46-9, in the season opener for both teams in LA. Scott Tolzien passed for 128 yards in place of the injured Andrew Luck and threw a pair of pick-sixes. Jacoby Brissett entered the game in the second half and was 2-of-3 for 51 yards. Marlon Mack had a rushing touchdown in the loss.

(Chicago, IL) — The Falcons outlasted the Bears, 23-17, in the season opener at Soldier Field. Chicago signal-caller Mike Glennon threw for 213 yards a touchdown in his first start with Chicago. Tarik Cohen led the Bears in both receiving and rushing, finishing with 113 yards from scrimmage and a score in defeat. The Bears visit the Buccaneers on Sunday.

(Chicago, IL) — The Brewers finished off a three-game sweep of the Cubs with a 3-1 win at Wrigley Field. Rene Rivera plated the lone run for the Cubs, who have lost six of their last eight. Kyle Hendricks yielded three runs in six frames as he slipped to 6-and-5.

(Chicago, IL) — Jose Abreu homered twice as the White Sox hammered the Giants, 8-1, in Chicago. Abreu launched a two-run homer in the second inning and added a solo shot in the seventh. Carson Fulmer fired six innings of one-run ball to pick up the win. The White Sox won the final two in the three-game set.

(St. Louis, MO) — Michael Wacha and John Gant combined on a six-hitter as the Cardinals blanked the Pirates 7-0 in St. Louis. Wacha struck out seven over eight innings of five-hit ball to improve to 12-and-7. Yadier Molina hit a three-run homer and drove in five runs as the Cards swept the three games.

(Cleveland, OH) — Make it 18 straight wins for the Indians. Cleveland extended its franchise-record streak with a 3-2 victory over the Orioles. It’s the longest winning streak in the majors since the A’s reeled off 20 straight victories in 2002. The Indians host the Tigers tonight.

(Champaign, IL) — Illinois came away with a 20-7 win over Western Kentucky in Champaign on Saturday. Chayce Crouch threw for 107 yards while rushing for 44 yards and a score for the Illini, who improved to 2-and-0. Mike Epstein added 111 yards on the ground in the win. Illinois visits USF on Friday.

(Terra Haute, IN) — The Millikin Football team went into Terra Haute, Indiana on Saturday night and came away with a 28-26 win over Rose-Hulman. The Big Blue finished with 504 yards of total offense and quarterback Nicco Stepina threw for 362 yards and three touchdowns. Millikin will open CCIW play Saturday at home against North Central College.
