(Taylorville, IL) — Prosecutors in Taylorville could file formal charges in a matter of hours against a Macon County deputy for a nine-hour standoff with police. It all started Saturday afternoon when investigators say Deputy Markes Rodgers fired a few shots as his wife ran from their home. The Illinois State Police responded, Rodgers barricaded himself in his home in Rosamond, and the standoff began. It finally ended just after 1 a.m. yesterday when troopers convinced Rodgers to surrender. He’s due in court sometime today.
