(Taylorville, IL) — Voters in Taylorville know the stakes in next month’s local election. School leaders in the downstate community say they will end most sports unless voters approve a tax increase. The property tax hike could add nearly 300 dollars to many homeowners’ tax bills. Superintendent Gregg Fuerstenau wrote last week that the district is ready to eliminate extracurricular programs, as well as junior high, freshman and junior varsity athletics. Voters will decide on April 4th.
