(Springfield, IL) — Governor Bruce Rauner wants to drug-test state employees if they appear drunk or high on the job. The rule does not include random drug testing. Rauner’s administration announced yesterday the policy was part of the last contract offer to employees when talks broke down in January with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. An AFSCME spokesperson responded, saying Rauner’s office is trying to create a distraction from refusing to negotiate a new contract.
