(Springfield, IL) — A revised plan to subsidize two Exelon nuclear power plants in Illinois is moving forward in the state legislature. A committee voted Tuesday to send to the House floor a plan to provide 235-million-dollars annually to the company, which has called its power plants in the Quad Cities and in Clinton unprofitable and has threatened to close them. The revised plan requires a longer commitment to keeping the plants open. Dynegy, which runs coal plants in southern Illinois, announced it’s pulling support for the new plan, labeled Senate Bill 2814, because it doesn’t include incentives for the coal industry.
