More than 1.4 million pounds of food was donated at this year’s 15th annual community food drive. The goal 1.3 million was surpassed during the last hour of the food drive; the exact number, 1,400,849 pounds of food. The twelve hour effort saw large donations from companies and small donations of food and money from hundreds of people. Schools also competed again this year. The top collector was St. Patrick’s Grade School. The food will be distributed to Catholic Charities and Salvation Army, with other non-profits benefiting as well, including the Northeast Community Fund and Judy Mason Thanksgiving Project.
