Sales Tax Increase Needed to Prevent Layoffs

A sales tax increase is needed to prevent several layoffs in the Macon County Sheriff’s Office. A binding referendum on the Nov. ballot would impose a quarter of a percentage point increase in the county’s share of local sales tax.
