A Mt. Zion restaurant is continuing a Thanksgiving tradition of making sure everyone has an opportunity to enjoy a holiday meal, regardless of their circumstances.
Four Star Family Restaurant, located at 1100 Illinois Route 121, will serve a free Thanksgiving meal Thursday, November 26, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The restaurant has offered the meal for the past 16 years, welcoming anyone who would like to stop in for Thanksgiving dinner.
The menu will include roast turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing and corn, along with a choice of soup or salad. Tea, soft drinks and coffee will also be available.
Waitress Tonya Rudolph says the tradition is an opportunity for the restaurant to show its appreciation to the community while bringing friends and neighbors together for the holiday.
Rudolph says the need for the meals is significant, whether someone is unable to afford a Thanksgiving dinner, has to work during the holiday or simply doesn’t want to prepare a meal at home.
Four Star will offer its regular breakfast menu Thanksgiving morning before switching to the holiday meal service at 11 a.m. The Thanksgiving meal will be the restaurant’s only lunch offering that day.
The meal is dine-in only, and reservations will not be accepted.
