Millikin University will host its annual Vespers performances December 5th and 6th at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center in Decatur.
This year’s program is titled “Veni et Illumina,” which translates to “Come and Illuminate.” The performance will explore themes of the Advent season, including hope, light and the anticipation of Christmas.
According to Millikin Associate Professor and Director of Choral Activities Ben Hawkinson, the program will focus on the idea of light overcoming darkness and the movement from uncertainty toward hope and comfort.
Three performances are scheduled. The first will take place Saturday, December 5th, at 2 p.m. A family-friendly gathering will be held in the Kirkland Fine Arts Center lobby before that performance.
A second performance is scheduled for Saturday, December 5th, at 7:30 p.m. as part of Big Blue Night, encouraging Millikin students, faculty and alumni to wear their school colors. The final performance will take place Sunday, December 6th, at 2 p.m.
All performances will be held at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center, located at 1215 West Kirkland Drive in Decatur.
Tickets are available online at millikin.universitytickets.com or through the Kirkland Fine Arts Center box office.
Vespers is presented by CEFCU and WAND TV.
