Illinois is putting 156 million dollars toward housing initiatives aimed at easing the state’s housing crisis and supporting working families. Governor J.B. Pritzker says the investment is designed to expand access to affordable homes across Illinois. A major portion — 103 million dollars — will go through the BUILD program, which focuses on making housing more attainable in communities statewide. State officials say the funding will help address rising housing costs and support development efforts where affordable options are in short supply. The administration says the goal is to give more Illinois families a stable place to live while strengthening local communities.
