Illinois regulators are moving to expand protections for people struggling with gambling. The Illinois Gaming Board has announced changes to its voluntary self-exclusion program, adding video gambling to the list of activities residents can block themselves from. The agency says the move is part of a broader effort to strengthen the program beyond traditional casino-style gambling and offer more flexible, longer-term exclusion options. Supporters say the update reflects the growing presence of video gaming terminals across the state. Before the change can take effect, it must be approved by the legislature’s Joint Committee on Administrative Rules.
