Shelbyville officials are moving forward with a new effort to ease the town’s childcare shortage. With support from local businesses, plans are underway for the Shelby County Early Learning Center, a facility expected to serve nearly 100 children from six weeks to five years old. The center is also projected to create 20 childcare jobs, adding needed support for working families and the local economy. Community leaders say the goal is to give parents more reliable options, especially those forced to choose between work and staying home with their children. The center is expected to open in fall 2027.
