A 37-year-old Taylorville man has been arrested following an investigation into a reported incident involving a minor at the Christian County YMCA.
The Taylorville Police Department says Shane Ross was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under 13 years of age. Police say Ross has been detained by the courts, which determined he poses a clear and present danger to the community.
The national YMCA organization says the reported incident involved now-former members in a family restroom. YMCA officials say the safety and well-being of children remain their highest priorities and that the organization will continue cooperating with law enforcement.
Taylorville police thanked Christian County State’s Attorney John McWard for assisting with the investigation and reviewing and approving the charges.
Police say the department remains committed to protecting children and thoroughly investigating allegations of this nature.
Ross is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
