A Decatur man has pleaded guilty to reduced charges in a deadly crash that killed a 12-year-old bicyclist. Hassan Woods was accused of driving drunk in June of 2025 when he struck Kavari Drisdell in a Decatur neighborhood. Authorities say Woods’ blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. The original DUI-death charge was dropped after Macon County State’s Attorney Diane Couri said the evidence did not support claims that Woods’ intoxication caused the child’s death. Woods instead pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI with no valid driver’s license. Sentencing is scheduled for January.
