The Macon County Fairgrounds will host its annual Harvest Festival this weekend, with carnival rides, food vendors, a haunted hayride and activities for families.
The festival runs Friday through Sunday at the fairgrounds, 3700 North Westlawn Avenue in Decatur.
Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
New this year is the first Macon County Harvest Festival Pageant, scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday in the Dunn Company Community Building. The pageant will feature five age groups, with contestants ranging from 5 to 21 years old.
Saturday’s other activities include the Power Wheels event at 5 p.m., followed by the demolition derby at 6 p.m. The festival will also feature craft and shopping vendors, food trucks and carnival rides.
Sunday’s activities include a free trunk-or-treat from 1 to 3 p.m., pumpkin painting and a foam party for children from 3 to 5 p.m. A touch-a-truck display will also give visitors a chance to get a closer look at large vehicles and equipment.
The haunted hayride will operate throughout the weekend, with designated kid-friendly hours Friday and Saturday. Sunday’s hayride will be kid-friendly throughout the afternoon.
General admission is $10 for people ages 12 and older and $5 for children ages 5 through 11. Children 4 and younger get in free. Parking is also free.
