Residents interested in running for mayor or the Decatur City Council can file nomination petitions beginning October 19.
Petitions for the office of mayor and three available City Council seats will be accepted by the Decatur City Clerk’s Office from 8 a.m. Monday, October 19, through 5 p.m. Monday, October 26.
Petitions must be filed during regular business hours at the City Clerk’s Office on the second floor of the Decatur Civic Center, located at 1 Gary K. Anderson Plaza.
The 2027 Consolidated Primary Election, if needed, will be held February 23. The Consolidated Election is scheduled for April 6.
City Clerk Kim Althoff says the Clerk’s Office cannot provide legal advice regarding the election process.
