Illinois is moving to support farmers facing higher costs and market uncertainty. Governor J.B. Pritzker has announced a new pilot loan program designed to help farmers build on-site grain storage facilities. The low-interest loans aim to reduce reliance on remote storage, lower long-term expenses, and make harvest operations more efficient. The move comes as farm families deal with rising input costs, tariffs, and broader economic pressure. Pritzker also signed an executive order intended to ease diesel fuel costs for the agriculture industry during the fall harvest season, offering additional relief as farmers work to bring in this year’s crop.
