Bree Ekhoff, a patient discharge specialist at Decatur Memorial Hospital, has been named the hospital’s Colleague of the Month.
Ekhoff helps coordinate patient discharges by working with insurance companies, updating facilities about referrals, completing screenings, handling phone calls and maintaining complex care lists.
Her colleagues say her organization, attention to detail and dedication help patients move through the discharge process as smoothly as possible. Her work also supports the Case Management department, nurses and other teams throughout the hospital.
One colleague who nominated Ekhoff called her “the heart of our department,” noting that she assists with every discharge from Decatur Memorial Hospital.
The nomination also praised Ekhoff for demonstrating Memorial Health’s people-first value through her dedication and hard work.
The Colleague of the Month award recognizes Memorial Health colleagues who demonstrate excellence in their roles and reflect the organization’s mission, vision and values.
