Governor J.B. Pritzker is picking up support from across the aisle in his bid for a third term. Former Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin has endorsed the Democratic governor over Republican challenger Darren Bailey. Durkin says Bailey “can’t be trusted” to lead Illinois. Durkin retired in 2023 after serving 24 years in the legislature and has remained a prominent Republican voice in state politics. He has also been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, who has endorsed Bailey. Pritzker and Bailey are set to face off in the general election next month.
