Governor Pritzker’s office continues talks with the Chicago Bears over the team’s stadium plans. In a statement, the Governor’s Office said it has stayed in contact with the organization throughout the summer, despite the Bears saying their current focus is on a proposed stadium project in Hammond, Indiana. Pritzker met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Bears board member Pat Ryan, House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch, State Representative Kam Buckner, and State Senator Bill Cunningham. The meeting signals Illinois leaders are still working to keep the franchise’s future stadium plans in the state.
