Parents who still need to get their children caught up on required school health requirements have several upcoming opportunities through the Macon County Health Department.
The health department is reminding families about upcoming dates for school physicals, immunizations and lead testing as the October 15 deadline approaches.
The next opportunity is Thursday, October 1, at the Macon County Health Department, 1221 East Condit Street in Decatur.
Physicals will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Immunizations and lead testing will be offered from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m.
Additional dates are scheduled for October 6 and October 13.
On both days, physicals will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with immunizations and lead testing offered from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m.
The health department’s reminder comes with an important deadline for families. October 15 is listed as the denial date for students who still have outstanding health requirements.
Parents who are unsure whether their child still needs a physical, immunization or lead test should check with their child’s school or the Macon County Health Department.
Taking care of those requirements now can help families avoid problems with school attendance later in the month.
The Macon County Health Department is located at 1221 East Condit Street in Decatur.
