Bears fans across Central Illinois are waiting for a clearer picture of Caleb Williams’ availability after the quarterback left Sunday’s loss to Minnesota with a hamstring injury.
NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk reported Monday, citing Tom Pelissero, that the injury is not considered major and Chicago has not ruled Williams out for its Week 3 game against Philadelphia next Monday night. That leaves open the possibility of a return, but does not confirm he will play.
Williams was injured while running toward the end zone at Soldier Field. He needed help leaving the field and was later taken by cart to the locker room. Bears coach Ben Johnson said afterward that the quarterback’s spirits remained positive, according to the report.
Before exiting, Williams threw for 138 yards and an interception, completing 15 of 26 passes. He added 42 yards rushing on five attempts.
For Decatur-area fans following Chicago, Williams’ status remains a key question as the Bears turn their attention to the Eagles.
