Pritzker Seeking FEMA Assistance in Response to August Severe Weather

Governor J.B. Pritzker is asking FEMA to provide disaster assistance for Illinois residents impacted by last month’s record-breaking severe weather. If approved, FEMA Individual Assistance would become available in affected counties, helping eligible residents recover from storm-related damage. Pritzker has also extended a state Disaster Proclamation for 30 more days, keeping state resources and personnel in place for ongoing recovery work. The proclamation covers Champaign, Cook, Ford, Fulton, McLean, Tazewell, Vermilion, and Will counties. State officials say the extension ensures communities continue receiving support as cleanup, damage assessments, and recovery operations move forward.
