Illinois is investing more than 20 million dollars to expand manufacturing training across the state. Governor J.B. Pritzker’s office says the capital grants will help create manufacturing training academies at five community colleges. Kaskaskia College in Centralia and Parkland College in Champaign will each receive 6 million dollars. Illinois Central College in East Peoria and Lake Land College in Mattoon are each getting 3 million. Lewis and Clark College in Godfrey will receive just over 2.3 million dollars. State officials say the goal is to strengthen the workforce pipeline and prepare more students for careers in advanced manufacturing.
