Illinois Drivers Reminded To Be Safe And Sober On Roadways For Labor Day Weekend

Illinois drivers are being urged to make safety part of their Labor Day weekend plans. The Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police, and local law enforcement are stepping up patrols for the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. Officers say anyone driving under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or any impairing substance risks being pulled over and arrested. IDOT reports nine deadly crashes happened in Illinois during last year’s Labor Day holiday weekend, with three involving alcohol. Officials say planning ahead, using a designated driver, rideshare, or public transportation could save lives.
