Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is touting another financial win for the state after S&P Global Ratings upgraded Illinois’ general obligation bond rating to “A.” The move marks the state’s second credit upgrade in less than a week and the 12th under Pritzker’s administration. It also gives Illinois its highest S&P credit rating in more than a decade. Credit upgrades can lower borrowing costs and signal stronger confidence in the state’s finances. Pritzker says the latest action reflects years of balanced budgets, bill payment progress, and improved fiscal management across Illinois.
