Governor J.B. Pritzker has named Jim Montgomery as the next director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The appointment takes effect Monday, August 31st, and still requires approval from the Illinois Senate. Montgomery brings experience in state government, having previously served as executive director of the Illinois Prisoner Review Board. He also has local government experience, serving as mayor of Taylorville from 1997 to 2005. If confirmed, Montgomery will lead the agency responsible for managing Illinois’ parks, wildlife, conservation programs, and natural resources.
