A Macon County man accused of killing three cats has been denied pretrial release.
Forty-two-year-old Edward Long is charged with aggravated animal cruelty. Deputies say they were called to Macon County Animal Control after a woman dropped off two dead cats and reported her suspicions. According to a sworn statement, Long later told deputies he shot the cats with a rifle and left them in a field.
Long remains in the Macon County Jail. His preliminary hearing is set for September 9th.
