IDPH Expands Medical Cannabis Program to Include Two More Conditions

Illinois health officials have expanded access to the state’s Medical Cannabis Patient Program. The Illinois Department of Public Health says two new qualifying conditions have been added: polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome with chronic pain, and sickle cell disease. IDPH Director Dr. Sameer Vohra approved the additions after review by the Medical Cannabis Advisory Board and the department. The change means Illinois residents diagnosed with either condition may now be eligible to apply for medical cannabis access through the state program. With these additions, Illinois now recognizes 58 qualifying debilitating medical conditions for participation.
