Two teenagers are in custody following a Sunday evening shooting at Johns Hill Park in Decatur that left one person hospitalized.
Decatur Police Chief Brad Allen says officers responded after reports of gunfire at the park. One victim was taken to the hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition.
According to police, investigators identified two suspects in connection with the shooting. They are 15 and 17 years old. Officers also recovered two firearms as part of the investigation.
Police believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute that began before the incident and eventually ended at Johns Hill Park. Chief Allen says investigators do not believe there is any immediate threat to people visiting the park.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are asking anyone who may have seen something or knows anything about what happened to contact authorities. Investigators say even a small detail could help them piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
