SAVOY — Mt. Zion’s Wade Putnam fired a 2-over-par 74 to lead the Braves to a sixth-place finish Monday at the Urbana Tiger Kick-Off Classic, while Maroa-Forsyth finished ninth and MacArthur’s Luke Karunas competed individually.
Putnam’s 74 was Mt. Zion’s best round of the day. Griffin Brewer followed with an 84, Caden Beasley shot an 85 and Case Talty added an 89 to round out the Braves’ four counting scores. Mt. Zion finished with a team score of 332.
David Albrecht shot a 95 and Stephen Huss finished with a 107 for the Braves.
Maroa-Forsyth finished ninth in the team standings with a 348. Preston Donaldson led the Trojans with an 83, followed by Colby Parrott with an 85. Landon Trimble and Quinn Cutler each shot 90 to complete Maroa-Forsyth’s scoring. Casen Reynolds finished with a 99 and Jacob Knuppel shot 100.
MacArthur had one golfer in the field, with Luke Karunas carding an 86. With only one entrant, the Generals did not record a team score.
Champaign Central won the tournament with a team score of 296, 13 strokes ahead of runner-up Mahomet-Seymour. Monticello finished third at 316.
Central’s John Timmons earned medalist honors with a 1-under-par 71, the only under-par round of the tournament.
