State officials have been preparing for the opening day of the 2026 Illinois State Fair in Springfield. The annual event begins today and continues through August 23rd, bringing together agriculture, entertainment, food, exhibits, and family attractions from across the state. Governor JB Pritzker helped set the stage yesterday by unveiling the 2026 Butter Cow at the fairgrounds, one of the fair’s most recognizable traditions. The sculpture is expected to draw steady crowds throughout the run. Fair organizers say they’re ready to welcome visitors as the gates open for nearly two weeks of Illinois tradition.
