Parents, it’s back-to-school shopping time — and here’s a little good news for your wallet.
From Friday, August 7th through August 16th, Illinois is cutting the state sales tax on school supplies from 6.25% down to just 1.25%.
So go ahead and stock up on markers, pencils, notebooks, folders, and all those classroom must-haves. Qualifying clothing and shoes under $125 are included, too.
School supplies don’t have a price limit, but keep in mind — local sales taxes still apply.
Governor JB Pritzker says the tax break is designed to help families hang on to more of their hard-earned money this back-to-school season.
