Illinois is investing 35 million dollars to prepare more locations for business development across the state. Governor J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity announced the Regional Site Readiness Program awards Thursday. The funding will support readiness work at 22 sites, helping communities improve locations so they can better attract companies, jobs, and future private investment. The awards are part of Illinois’ record 500 million dollar site readiness initiative for fiscal year 2026. State officials say the goal is to make more properties development-ready and strengthen Illinois’ competitiveness for major business expansion opportunities.
