Residents in central and southeastern Illinois now have a new location to receive in-person assistance with Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) cards and Concealed Carry Licenses.
State Senators Jason Plummer and Steve McClure are highlighting a new Illinois State Police service kiosk in Effingham that offers help with FOID card and Concealed Carry License applications, renewals, account updates, and other related services.
The kiosk is located at 401 Industrial Drive, Suite A, in Effingham, and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
According to the Illinois State Police, staff at the kiosk can assist residents with new applications, renewals, and name or address changes. The location also provides photo services for applications, assistance with correcting rejected applications, submission of Firearm Disposition Records, and the surrender of FOID or Concealed Carry cards when required. A public computer is also available for completing online applications and updating existing accounts.
Officials say the goal of the new service is to provide residents with a convenient, local option for receiving face-to-face assistance with the state’s firearm licensing process.
