Macon County authorities say a Decatur man has been arrested following a hit-and-run crash that left an Ameren worker seriously injured.
According to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, Ameren crews were working in the area of Turpin Road and South Shores Drive on Sunday evening when the incident happened. Officials say it was around 6:30 p.m. when a northbound truck struck one of the workers and then left the scene.
Lt. Scott Flannery says the worker suffered severe injuries, including broken vertebrae and a serious concussion. Authorities have not released additional details about the worker’s condition.
Investigators identified the suspect as 39-year-old Clifford England of Decatur. He was charged Thursday morning in connection with the incident.
England was taken into custody and booked into the Macon County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
